Deciding what to serve with tea to guests can be a pain and when you are not prepared to impress, you improvise. That is precisely what we did today. Exhibit A: Grilled Shashlik Sticks.
Stop drooling, here’s what you’ll need:
150 gms or 1 cup of boneless chicken, cut into 1 inch cubes
1 large tomato, de-seeded and cut into 1 inch squares
1 green capsicum, de-seeded and cut into 1 inch squares
1 onion, peeled and cut into 1 inch squares
2 tbsp vegetable oil for frying
6 – 8 thin shashlik sticks
salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp of ginger, garlic and green chilli paste
1/2 tsp soy sauce
1/2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tbsp corn flour
1/2 an egg
Marinate your chicken and let it sit in the fridge overnight. (Once marinated, this can be frozen till needed). Heat up the oil in a pan and then fry the chicken at low heat till tender and slightly golden.
Now slide your chicken on to the shashlik sticks, alternating with the vegetables. Also, heat up a grill while you do this.
Once the grill is hot, drizzle some oil on it and grill your shashlik sticks till you have a nice color on them and you’re all set. Have fun making these and thank you for reading!
