Ramadan is just around the corner and I am ready to list down my favorite recipes that are full of energy and nutrition. First up is this Date and Almond Shake. Have some for Iftar or Sehri, it’s loaded with energy.
The flavor is so creamy and dense. And the sweetness from the dates compliments the richness of the almonds. I use skimmed milk but you can use full-fat milk for more flavor. Here’s what you’ll need:
Makes 2 servings:
4 dates (pre-soaked)
8 almonds (pre-soaked)
2 glasses of milk
2 tsp of honey
ice to cool
Although dates are already sweet, adding some honey just lifts all the flavors. You would want to pre-soak the almonds and dates so that they blend easily. An hour of soaking in lukewarm water should do it.
Peel off the skin from the almonds and put into a blender with rest of the ingredients. Blend till combined. Serve chilled.
